Farm House Renovation: Dining Room

I didn't get too many photos of the dining room, either before, after, or in progress, probably because I was so focused on the kitchen when I was in that space, but Lisa did, so these photos are hers!  She did a great job of getting the same angles before and after!
So before, you see smoke stained walls, damaged flooring, dark cabinets, damaged doors, a dirty (and actually burnt) light fixture, and a whole lotta clutter!  We removed the bottom cabinets for painting and laying flooring, changed out the doors (see previous post about doors), cleaned, primed, painted, and put up beadboard on the walls, cleaned, primed, painted the ceiling and Lisa installed the 3rd of those free ceiling fans from the garage.  We spent a day or two removing flooring and scraping up layers of it, only to find termite damage, so an underlayment was necessary here also before vinyl floors could go down.  A day for underlayment, a day for vinyl...  and then there was the sanding, priming, and painting of the buffet cabinet, which we did along with the kitchen cabinets.  We used the old countertop for the buffet.  It would be a special order piece, and we discovered that relatively late in the game for getting a new countertop in on time.  We also needed to save a bit of money and this one wasn't in too bad a shape.  Eventually, we think we'd like to get a larger top and make a breakfast bar around it... perhaps.  After Charlie & Lisa live in it a bit, they can tell if that will work or not.
The beadboard still needs caulk, touch up paint, and quite a bit of trim.  It was done the night before and morning of move-in day!
