Desks!

When I went to help Ann organize her home school room (and we wound up making bookcases) we also planned on making desks.  It got dark, we were tired, and my dear husband said, "There's a better way to do this."  Now, mind you, I've spent enough time around wood in my life to know that there was a better way, but I was working with the tools we had on-hand and my skill level.  David said, "Mind if we take this stuff home?"  The Kimmels didn't mind, so David loaded up the supplies and brought them here.  One night, I dreamed that the legs should have better support and woke David up to tell him about it.  He said, "I already thought of that.  I bought the wood today."  Great minds think alike, even if mine is slower and comes in dreams!  ;)  So, I spent a bit of time re-cutting everything with the miter saw (can cut it all together and get it straighter and more even than doing them individually with a circular saw), assembled the pieces, and called David in to use his handy dandy nail gun so that they'd stay together if you actually, you know, breathed on them.  I got to learn how to use the nail gun on this project and that's way cool.  It doesn't vibrate like a drill, and that's good news to my hands.  It also doesn't split wood as easily as driving a screw in it does.  I think I have a new favorite toy!  (David says, "Oh no...")  Oh, yes.  :)
