A Day of Rest

Hello again! We are enjoying a very restful day today. In fact, other than church, the main item on our agenda has been sleep! We've needed it!

This week has been a bit of a blur. It has come to my attention that in a few short weeks, I will be a full-time homeschooling mom. For real. I find this a bit overwhelming. At the same time, I have what seems like a zillion little tasks to accomplish and many friends to visit and enjoy before then. This week has been good for both--visiting friends and accomplishing little tasks. Yet there are more folks I want to visit, and more little tasks to be completed!

Jack the dog went home just about an hour ago. I anticipated him staying until Tuesday, but apparently he was greatly missed!

Chicken Coop went home yesterday. I still have to screw the roof into it, but that task will have to get accomplished on a visit later.

Thursday evening, we had a great spontaneous visit with our farming friends. The goal (other than just fun, of course!) was to encourage a baby to arrive sooner rather than later. Spicy foods were on the menu. Baby arrived Saturday morning--too late for us to have anything to do with it! We are so thrilled and excited for the Garnetts and can't wait to meet their new daughter!

Friday, we spent the Fourth with good friends. It has become a Fourth of July tradition to celebrate with the Zissettes. We always enjoy time with them and we get too little of it! We had all been invited to the home of a friend who has a great view of the town (and consequently I'm sure a spectacular view of the fireworks display), but our kiddos had fallen asleep by dark, making that next to impossible. Maybe another year...

Yesterday, we all went to see Wall-E. We had intended to go to the new Thomas movie playing in Gallatin through the month of July--Saturday mornings at 10:30, in case you're interested. Not surprising, we woke up too late. I wasn't crazy about Wall-E. Not enough dialogue for me, but the kids loved it. David really enjoyed the graphics. I think I may have been soured by the cost of the tickets and concessions. Prices sure go up fast! I've only seen 3 movies in theaters since Samuel was born--Superman (I think!), Ratatouille, and now Wall-E. I just may be too cheap (and not enough of an entertainment consumer) to do much more of that. Picnics and puppet shows are more my style!

We've decided to buy another doeling. Actually, my mom wants us to have more than 2 does. We had intended to grow our herd internally, but she is insistant. Of course, I can't turn her down! The doeling was recently born on our friends' farm, and won't be ready to come home until Septemberish. I'm thrilled to be getting her! I'm a little concerned about how she'll be accepted into our herd and have been tossing about the idea of purchasing a 4th doe to come home at the same time. I suppose we have a while to decide. We get to go visit the doeling on Tuesday. I can't wait!

Hope y'all are enjoying your day of rest today, too!
