Quick Update

Tuesday, we completed our fence! We may still add a few boards and solar lights, but it's functional now! I have a bazillion bug bites and 3 happy goats to show for it! What I can't figure out, though, is why they seem to prefer the corner where David scooped up dirt and the ground is bare to the shady trees and rocks to climb on... No bugs there?

We've done a few little things on the barn, but not much. There are a few little things left, but with the weather this hot, I'm not super eager to do them!

Yesterday started the summer session for music lessons. Samuel gets to learn to play "Go Tell Aunt Rhody" and Shiphrah started piano! She knows there are 88 keys, 8 Cs, and has a warm up to practice--kind of like scales to the tune of Mississippi Hot Dog.

Solomon turned 2 yesterday. He doesn't know it. We'll celebrate Saturday. Grandma bought him a sandbox and some sand. Should be fun!

We discovered last night that we hadn't taken any home videos since Solomon was just a newborn. The battery was dead, or we'd have had some great videos of the kids "performing." I'll have to re-acquaint myself with the camera!

Today we plan to relocate my mom's roosters to our field. They will live in the camper shell and free range. She needs to let her hens out of the coop w/o the roosters constantly at them. (If you've had any of our eggs and noticed the yolks a little more pale recently, it's because my mom is trying to protect her hens! That should be remedied today!)

The kids are doing better. Samuel seems to be taking the longest to recover. He still has a sore throat and his ear sometimes gets hot. I'm not exactly sure what that means! We're trying to do this w/o antibiotics this time...

Much to be done today--better get moving! Oh! I have a funny picture from the last couple days, but my mom would die if I shared it. I put her hair in 4 pony tails so she could work in the garden w/o it bothering her. She said, "You're just like Lizzy!" (Evidently my cousin did this to my grandma?!) and after looking in the mirror, decided she had too much self respect to let the neighbors see her like that and took out the pony tails. We laughed much. Have a great day!
