I learned that yesterday--not just in theory, but in practice. I also learned that I'm going to have to train these goats to do a better job of standing still on the milkstand. I was holding a hoof with my left hand and the trimmers with my right. Since the task at hand was to trim the hoof, I had both hands in close proximity. Hoof kicked. Trimmer cut. My finger bled. A lot. All is well now thanks to the folks at Johnson & Johnson and Curad. And of course, David. After my finger was doctored up, he helped hold Julia so she wouldn't kick me. I sure am glad it was a finger rather than an eye. I also learned to insure that the kids aren't close while I do that chore. It could have been far uglier! It was the does' first time on the milkstand, and their first hoof trimming, so I'm pleased that we accomplished the job.
Yesterday I also got to catch up on house chores, run a few errands, help David with more fencing, hang water buckets for the goats and dogs that the dogs can't stand in and soil the drinking water (They might need a baby pool to keep cool), and was dinner for several mosquitos. I did try bugspray (a "gentle", all natural, DEET free one), but it burned so bad, I had to get in the shower to get it off! So that didn't work. I need to eat more garlic, it seems.
Samuel caught several lightening bugs. They're living with his frog. How he caught so many so fast is beyond me! Froggy Jr. is still in the jar, but only because Grandma couldn't see him hiding under a twig. Samuel's pinkeye seems worse. I need to be more diligent with the drops.
Shiphrah stayed in bed and watched movies most of the day. She's good at keeping still while sick!
Solomon learned how to jump off the step to the bathtub. He thinks he's really a big boy now!
The goats and dogs roamed around outside their pen yesterday while we worked on the fence. The goats seem to prefer David to me. Heartbreaking! He may have to learn goat midwifery... I've heard of does that won't kid until the man of the house is home! The dogs became acquainted with our cat, Pluto. Pluto is still alive. That's about it for the day.
Have a Happy Lord's Day!

Billie,
Sorry the kids are sick. We were planning on coming to hear Mr. Samuel so I guess we will have to wait for next recital. Hope your finger is better. You and David and making a pair with your finger injuries!!! Hannah and Faith are both home safe and we are off to church. Have a great day!
Love you guys!
Anne
Yes, we had matching gauze bandages for a while! Mine was a lot cleaner cut than his, though. :) Glad the girls are home safe! We look forward to seeing you this weekend! (We should all be better by then!!!)
