When it rains...

...It pours! Yesterday was a whirlwind of a day, and I don't know where to begin. Piano tuning and dental appointments were scheduled. Meals for next week planned. Ironing completed. Co-op order made. Bedding washed...

We discovered that our computer's motherboard will need to be laid to rest soon. We'll be treating it as kindly as possible, but if it dies before a new computer is in the budget, don't think I've forgotten anyone! I'll just be out of touch a while! I am ever-so-grateful to David's computer teacher for helping us when our computer is sick and ailing!

Our shower started leaking 2 days ago, and yesterday I figured out the cause--cheap plastic shower spout cracked. I also fixed it, but there won't be any pictures, as I've still got cosmetic work to do... I tried to reach David before I started anything, but he was at a meeting. So, I asked his wonderful school secretary to warn him before I talked to him, but the words "reciprocating saw" came out of my mouth before she got to him, and now he's constantly teasing me about the "good" news I gave him! And teasing her for not warning him. (Sorry Kristen! I didn't mean to get you involved! :)

It always cracks me up when I go into Lowe's with three babes in tow, and start explaining my project (whatever it is) to a sales person so they can help me find the items I need. I always get this funny "you're really going to do this?" look from them! I always have to resist the urge to say (though I'm not Legally Blonde!), "What? Like it's hard?!"

My great grandmother is known to have removed chimneys, torn down and rebuilt walls (in a new location, no less!), and other major projects while my great grandfather was at work. He never knew when he came home if his house would be the same one he left in the morning! I've reminded David of this, and how very little and inconsequential it is to have a new shower spout and a larger hole in the wall. The hole is temporary! Really, if everyone would make such a big deal out of my meal planning, ironing, and washing the bedding, I think they'd be more on the mark! Those are hard chores! I just refuse to pay a plumber $200 for a job I can do for less than $5. Unless it involves a septic line.

Anyhow, decided to to my grocery shopping and stop at the consignment store while out yesterday rather than spending gas again for that today. Three kids provide lots of help and entertainment while running such errands. Samuel makes up the most fantastic stories! Shiphrah makes up beautiful songs. Solomon giggles and smiles like nothing I've ever seen. I have to throw in my share of, "Stop that! Listen to me! (insert other mother discipline phrases here)," but we really do have fun. :) We had a store credit at the consignment store, and got Shiphrah 2 beautiful dresses for less than $9.00! We had a hot dog lunch at Sam's before filling up a shopping cart there, went to Walmart, and stopped at the wine shop on the way home for some Godiva milk chocolate liqueur. It's great as a substitute for whiskey in a recipe I have for whiskey sauce. (suppose it's not whiskey sauce anymore!) I want to try the sauce on top of a chocolate or red velvet cake. I have to confess, I made a red velvet cake with this sauce for a family in our church, but I've never tried the combination together! I need to know if I should feel culinary remorse!

We discovered that our out-of-town guest won't be able to come. (sniffle) We may just have to finegle another vacation into the budget and schedule this year... We also had a neighborly visit from Mr. Sullivan. He brought us a gallon of strawberries from his garden! Let's see... what else? Oh!

My mother's day present (hammock) and my mom's mother's day present (chicken butchering supplies!) arrived, along with more school books for David. So today will be my cleaning day, and if I can fit it in, will also be a hammock-hanging and gate building day! But I might need more chain, as the trees I want to use are about 19 feet apart, rather than 16... Tonight we'll be going to see our neice, Faith, receive a very special award. I look forward to it! Seems we don't spend nearly enough time with them! With her sister's graduation tomorrow, all the out of town family visiting, a party on Saturday, and a monster paper for David due, this promises to be a fun-filled weekend!
