Merry Second Day of Christmas! We're not quite so eager to roll out of bed this morning as we were yesterday, but the kiddos are eagerly awaiting the time when Daddy wakes up and they can open their gift for the day. :)
We had a full and festive day yesterday! The day started early with Samuel waking me ready to open gifts. Thankfully, he was the only one who woke up early and was a big help in getting things accomplished that I should have done the night before but was too tired to do. We straightened up our house (which was a LOT of work since Christmas Eve was a very busy time as well!), got cinnamon rolls in the oven, and did our barn chores. The kids enjoyed opening presents, but are so funny! They open one gift and want to stop opening presents so they can enjoy the thing they got! My mom said they are not normal. :) I think this is a good thing, and we could probably spend a lot less for Christmas and have them still be very happy. Eventually everything got opened. We milked goats, got cleaned up, and got busy in the kitchen. By the time our dinner guests arrived, Solomon and Shiphrah were ready for bed! They played hard all day. Truth be known, I was ready for bed, too, but stayed awake to enjoy the food and fellowship. :)
Vicki, Z, and William shared a meal with us and we enjoyed spending the evening with them. They didn't take nearly enough food home with them, so our refrigerator is far too full, but perhaps that means we won't have to cook much for the rest of Christmas. :)
