Busy Weekend

It has been a busy couple of days! Thursday, I learned that I would be goat-sitting for 2 weeks! This wouldn't be such a big deal, except that the goats I'm sitting are in milk, so that means I'm milking for 2 weeks! And breeding them to one of my bucks, as well. It's funny how my priorities have changed a bit... Rather than scrambling to clean up my house, my first thought was my barn! So I spent some time Thursday cleaning out my barn, and moving a couple large spools through rain and mud out of the buck pen into the doe barn! Thursday night, I was painfully aware that I'm also pregnant. :)

Friday, we made our monthly feed run and also picked up fresh shavings for the barn floor. We went to music lessons (I got the fingering to play harmony when Samuel is playing Jingle Bells! How fun!). Then we came home and I carried 500 pounds of feed from the van to the barn, and spread out the new shavings. (David would have done all this for me, but I'm impatient and wanted it done before he got home!) Anyhow, then we went grocery shopping and when I finally went to bed for the evening, I was painfully aware that I'm pregnant.

Today, along with laundry and finally preparing my house for company (you know, windows, dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, scouring...) we also had some chicken wrangling to do... The 11 chickens that were under the deck needed to go back to the barn to make room for the 31 chickens that were in my mom's bathtub and needed to go under our deck. After David, Samuel, and I (I confess, I didn't do much!) chased these chickens while hunched over to fit beneath our deck, we decided that we didn't want to do that ever again if we could help it. So... there are 42 chickens in the buck pen and a make-shift set up to keep the babies warmer... And I'm painfully aware, well, you know.

So our guests came, and brought dinner! I like the arrangement of me cleaning my house and someone bringing dinner. :) However, our guests didn't intend to stay to eat! So, we got goats settled, milked goats, took care of the milk & milking supplies, and spent some time with the goats and chickens, and the kiddos all played and whooped it up. Our guests set out for home, and we ate a yummy meal. :) I'm exhausted and looking forward to the day of rest tomorrow! I still have tomatoes to chop for my part of the church taco salad supper, but that will have to wait as I don't think I can stand one moment more on my feet! Working hard feels good, but if today is anything like the last 2 days, falling into bed after working hard feels ever so much better!

Happy Sunday, everyone!
