Today was to be my routine visit to the baby doctor. Once again, I thought of postponing due to illness, but decided I better go and see if he'd listen to my lungs. Wouldn't you know, I almost forgot to ask him, and that was the only thing I had to remember?!
So baby's heart rate was 156 bpm, my blood pressure was normal, and my weight stayed the same. (It needed to! I gained too much last month!) We talked about my due date. I guess doctors like ultrasound dates better. (Midwives like their client's calendar notes just fine.) Anyhow, it doesn't change things by much. I'm 9 days further along, according to the ultrasound. I shouldn't have the baby before April 29th and he won't let me go past May 29th. My official due date is May 15th. I suspect that if it is a girl, she'll arrive on May 23rd, and if a boy, about 4 days sooner, provided that labor isn't induced before then. That's just my guess. We talked about choice of hospital, nursing, and Solomon. (He was there with me.) Doctors seem to be a lot busier than midwives, but I still think I'm going to like him. :)
Just as Dr. Trabue was about to leave, I remembered to ask him to listen to my lungs. He did, and asked if I had asthma. (I don't.) My lungs have plenty of fluid in them, so he gave me a Z pack (azithromycin) and some hydrocodone cough syrup. I have a refill on that Z pack, and I'm going to have to ask about that...
I have my big ultrasound on January 5th and that's when I should find out what we're having! So exciting! After listening to the heartrate, Dr. Trabue guessed it is a girl, which is what I've been thinking we're having, but we shall see... :)
