Teeth, belts, and snow wars

Today, David & I had dental appointments. I had told the kiddos that they could come see that Mommy & Daddy have to get their teeth cleaned with that same gritty paste and all that goes with going to the dentist, too. Shiphrah slept in so Grandma stayed with her while we took the boys. They didn't seem so interested in the gritty paste when we got there, but at least they know we do go to the dentist and that they are not alone. :) And I've been informed that I've entered a new life phase (as David put it). The dental work phase. The dentist told me that there aren't that many people that make it to my age and don't need any dental work (the dentist is one of those few, he had to add), and I was one of them. Was. I have a pit in a molar that isn't quite a cavity but could use a filling. Just for good measure, they'll do the same tooth on the other side as well, even though that pit isn't really visible. It must be there. That will get done after the baby is born. David is taking delight in this. (That's just because I always win the gum health contest!) He's a sick man. A sick man, with onlays, who just isn't as obsessive about flossing as I am.

We also took the van to get fixed--a new timing belt and a drive belt. It got done today so we left David's car to be done tomorrow. It is nice to have that done. The van no longer squeaks and it isn't so scary to be driving along and feel the belt slipping at low speeds. This is a good thing. I need to run a couple of errands into Kentucky and feel far more secure about it all now!

Other than that, I napped! I did barn chores this morning, but David did them this afternoon. He and Samuel also went out during my nap and had a snowball war and took the goats on a hike through the woods! Sounds like it was fun!

It's bed time, but I have a toddler telling me in no uncertain terms that he needs to watch the Fox and the Hound. The speech isn't that clear, but "watch", "fox", "hound", and "NOW!" are discernable as he yanks my hand to take me to the room where the DVD player is. I must turn the lights out now!
