Friday Fun

The floor nailer arrived today! This, of course, means that David has some work ahead of him. Glad I got that buck barn taken care of so he doesn't have to worry with that this weekend! I'm SOOOO looking forward to being able to vacuum my hallway and walk down the center of it! Of course, I also can't wait to see our new library when it is done! I already have another project planned.... I want to build a little shelving unit like I made for the boys' room to hold trains and cars, but I want this one to hold DVDs. Okay, so there are a few projects planned... our bathroom will come next! Repair walls, leak, cabinets, paint, install the new mirror (that I got off Freecycle a few months back! It would have been over $500 from a glass store!) These home projects always seem to go hand in hand with new babies!

The kids had good music lessons. Shiphrah is slowly gaining a bit of focus and doing a few things without reminders. It is tediously slow and I often want to pull out all my hair (and hers), but so far, we still have hair, so I'm calling that progress...

Samuel gets to start learning Allegro. It isn't as tough as I thought! I can play it, but don't have it memorized yet so still have to look at my notes (which look nothing like music). We get to learn to read music after Book 2, I think. Until then, we get familiar with music, train our ears, and I think I'm supposed to try picking out the Star Wars music for Samuel tomorrow... Anyhow, Samuel is excited about Allegro, also, and sees that it's not really all that scary, even if it is fast. :)

Our frost free outdoor faucets froze up, even with the insulator cup on them, so I had to fill goat water buckets in the house today. My does like to come in the house and hang out when I do that. So far, they're good about not going potty in the house at that time, which is a good thing, and with the ground frozen and freshly trimmed hooves, we didn't have to worry about tracking in mud. Anyhow, one of them decided that the fake leaves on my mantle looked pretty tasty. Samuel alerted me to that, and I was able to dig it out of her mouth before she swallowed!

We also managed to make it to Co-Op for buck food (medicated with Rumensin) and to Edwards Feed for doe food (medicated with Decoxx)... Eventually, I will be able to switch them all to an unmedicated feed--hopefully this Spring. Edwards had to give me an IOU because they didn't have enough bags premixed, but will have more tomorrow.

I had hoped to get over to Strasburg today. We got a coupon in the mail for an additional 50% off clearance items and I want to find a baptism dress for the baby and maybe get some doll dresses for Shiphrah's dolls for her birthday. I just can't pass up a coupon like that one! Maybe tomorrow...

Well, the little people are wanting something else to eat before bed, so I best see what we can scramble up. I'm sensing a growth spurt!

Did David use that new toy--the nailer--today? Or did he just lounge around after his morning trek in at the worst time of the day for the roads? uh oh!

Still haven't used the new toy...! The moldings will get painted and put up first. Maybe today...?

No, he ate breakfast with me and helped me with barn chores! I'm looking forward to his retirement. :)

I hated that he had gotten out in that weather but he is dedicated.;)Just think...he is almost halfway to that retirement point.

I am right there with him but he has youth on his side. I'll be 65 when I have my 30 years in. That is what happens when you stay home with the babies and start your career later. I don't regret it at all.:)
