37 week (and 3 days) Dr. Visit

Yesterday I had my (now) weekly visit with Dr. Trabue. My pre-eclampsia test came back fine. Some liver function was high, but apparently it's normal for that to be high in pregnant women. My iron was low, which I knew, but they gave me some iron pills and some other prenatal vitamins to try. I really don't want to take them, but know I need to. They didn't say anything about the results of the Group B strep test. Either it was fine (it has been the last 3 times) or it hasn't come back yet. No news is good news. I joked that my ankles are currently non-existant and he said that I have the ankles of a mother. He can have such a tender and fatherly demeanor!

When he checked me, I was a little surprised with the results. For me, it is normal to labor for hours upon hours without ever getting past 1 cm dilated, any effacement, and staying at negative stations... Yesterday, I was between 2 and 3 cm dilated, 50% effaced, and at 0 station. I don't know if this means I will deliver Shiloh any sooner, or if I'll have a shorter labor when the time comes... I'm feeling the need to stay close to home and rested, though. I know plenty of mamas walk around for weeks further along than that, but because it is so abnormal for me, it has my attention! It is comforting in a sense, though, because I've been feeling even less capable when it comes to performing some physical tasks. That always bothers me, but knowing I have a good excuse (besides just pregnancy) helps. :) Ugh. Pride. Someday God will weed that out of me completely!

Yesterday after my appointment, I got the baby seat in the van and the hospital bag prepared. I'll probably do laundry every couple of days just to keep current so that we don't find ourselves with me in labor and everyone only having one or two pairs of clean underwear! :) I probably need to go ahead and revamp my instructions for barn chores in light of the new babies and jot down some notes for the care of the kiddos...

Other news: Samuel got into some poison oak and apparently had to scratch his face and use the restroom after getting it on his hands. He's not a happy camper. Shiphrah has a head cold. Stuffy nose and really cranky. Solomon is happy as ever, just as long as you put enough chocolate in his milk! Well, barn chores await. I've slept in and procrastinated long enough!
