Making up for lost time
Since I've gone so long without the use of my camera, I will probably be posting a plethora of pictures for a while. These were taken this evening, following barn chores.
This is Samuel holding Paris, the buckling that has a parrot mouth. His mouth defect certainly doesn't detract from his ability to nurse (he is the largest of the 3 surviving babies) or, as you can see, his ability to be loved. So much for making him dinner. I have a real softie on my hands. In fact, yesterday after David disposed of one of the extra roosters, Samuel went to bed dwelling on that and had a nightmare about animals being killed. He woke up very early and was in the barn an hour before me this morning keeping vigil over our little barnyard!
Our boys simply enjoying the romp through the field with the goats. Solomon is in a real picture taking mood. He wants to be in every one!
Shiphrah, on the other hand, did not want her picture taken. She was so cute sitting among the little goat babies, though! Solomon snuck in this one at the last minute! The red buck behind Shiphrah is Berlin. The brown doe in front of her is Belle, and as previously mentioned, the black buck is Paris.
This is what made me run in and get the camera! You may not be able to tell, but the baby goats are up on that ridge with my human babies! They hopped up there in pursuit of the adult goats all by themselves! So grown up in just two weeks! My kids dressed themselves this afternoon after taking off their church clothes. I take no responsiblity for their fashion choices, other than insisting on coats and foot gear.
