NOAA Weather Radio

Because I have been known to drive about town during a tornado (and wonder why the hail is coming down like bullets and none of the stoplights in town are working) my dear sister-in-law gave my dear husband a NOAA weather radio for Christmas. This has been nice! We don't watch TV, but we can listen to this while brushing our teeth before picking out the day's attire. All well and good.

Today, however, I felt as though NOAA got a little too excited about a weather incident, and its alarmist nature may make me question its integrity ever again. See, really loud alarms and beeps, phrases such as, "Very Dangerous," and, "Tornado Warnings Until 5 pm," and, "Seek Shelter Immediately," make me more than a little nervous! If I had just looked out my door, I wouldn't have been worried, but clearly looking out my door wasn't enough in the past...

Anyhow, we nearly postponed my mom's oral surgury for another week, even though she had already taken time off, made lesson plans, etc. just because of these weather warnings. We called David. He thought we'd be fine to go, so we went. Mom's surgury went well and she's now sleeping on our couch. We didn't get caught in any tornadoes or hail (just above average winds) and David is not responsible for sending us to Heaven prematurely. All is well, but my trust in NOAA.
