In the News

David shared this horrific news article with me. It isn't for the faint of heart. What makes it really hit home for me, is that I'm 3 weeks further into my pregnancy than this woman. Sickening.

Makes me think of a book that I really want to read called Letters to Gabriel. It's about women who have been victims of rape and/or incest, conceived, and went on to give birth to their babies, regardless of all the council they received against that, and how God has worked through their lives, and the lives of their babies, to heal the wounds caused by the grievous sins against these mothers.

Another book that was recommended to me today was Spiritual Midwifery. My obstetrician's daughter (whom he is in practice with) recommended it, and told me about the end of the book that makes her cry. Apparently there was this commune (that is no longer a commune, but the place still exists and midwifery is still performed there) that would tell women who were considering abortion to go there, have their baby, and they would give their baby a home.

Makes me want to run out to the local Crisis Pregnancy Center and start volunteering...
