Chickens and Dogs

I take back what I said in my last post about the chickens and dogs being well. We moved the chickens into the buck pen so that I wouldn't have to crawl under our deck anymore, and so that they could scratch up the barn floor and seek out fly larvae. They seem to be doing a good job of that...when they don't decide to pop through the fence and explore. This is where the problems come in.

Our dogs have killed 3 chickens today, the last time I was out. Think the chickens would learn? We're down to 18. The dogs are just bored. 5 goats in a little bitty pen just isn't enough work for them. They need our property fenced and a real job to do. Without that, they just kill chickens and chew sandbox toys. And landscape fabric. And shoes left out at the back door. Grrr...

Samuel, Shiphrah, and I are still sick. My mom spent the day here cooking, but we can't eat any of it. Sure smells good though!
