Encouraging Reminder

On these days when being an over-achiever means everyone gets fed, bathed, and teeth brushed, it's sometimes encouraging to remind myself of what I'm doing on the inside and realize that while it doesn't appear that I'm accomplishing much, something fearful and wonderful is really being accomplished.

So here's what's really going on this week (taken from The Pregnancy Book by Dr. William & Martha Sears):

Baby is around 1.5 inches long, about the size of a large olive, and weighs around 1/2 ounce. The previously hunched-over head and curved body are now more erect. All the internal organs that will be present in the fully grown infant have already been formed. The heart is now divided into four chambers. Hands, feet, fingers, and toes are fully formed. Major joints, shoulder, elbow, wrist, knee, and ankle are evident. Mouth nose, and nostrils are more formed, earlobes show, and all the structures of the eyes are found...

So, what looks like couch-potato-ish behavior from me this week is really very deceiving. Okay, so I'm not willing it to be done, God is, but He's using me to do it and it's still hard work! Some days, I envy that bird... what is it? The rhinocerous hornbill? The pregnant female gets sealed up in a hollow tree and the mate brings her all the food she needs and she just eats and sleeps! Normally that wouldn't sound like any fun at all, but right now I think that's the life!

Anyhow... 'tis encouraging to know what's going on in there. It's also encouraging to know that according to TN's cumpulsory attendance laws, I'm not accountable to the state for having a great homeschooling schedule in order until next year! :)
