Goals

A friend recently loaned me a couple of books to get my feedback on them.  Body for Life and Body for Life for Women.  Along with an "ah-ha" moment about how I was being trained when I worked with a trainer in preparation for a body building competition that I never competed in (I moved, long story) I also got a tidbit that I once knew but probably forgot and that I want to put into practice.  I want to live intentionally, not accidentally.  This means planning.  Now, I realize that we can't plan *everything* that happens to us, but we can plan some simple things.  It never occurred to me that I accidentally eat, but without planning, that's just what happens!  So, one of my goals is to be more intentional in how I eat.  Plan better.  David keeps telling me that a meal plan for the family would certainly make my life easier, and he's right.  I just have to spend a bit of time planning so that I don't have to spend so much time fumbling about and wondering what to do!

So, along with planning, I have a couple other pretty simple goals that I'm going to work on.  I want to limit my coffee consumption to two cups a day.  Really, I don't like the feeling I have when I drink coffee all day, but I do just that.  Why?  I also want to limit my wine consumption to 2 glasses a week.  Since starting my weight loss journey, I had a glass just about every evening.  After exercising vigorously, and feeling really great from that, that the feeling I get after having even a glass of wine just isn't very good.  I wake up feeling dehydrated and headachy.  In conjunction with that, I want to increase the amount of water I drink each day.  It should probably be about a gallon on days that I exercise, but since I've not been drinking enough water, I'll start with saying I'm going to drink a half gallon a day.  I anticipate that it won't be too tough without the coffee and wine and with the weather warming up.  Maybe I'll get up to a gallon a day without noticing it!

It would be good to incorporate some weight training beyond what we do in warrior workout (a 45 minute cardio conditioning and circuit class I take at the martial arts studio).  But with all the other stuff--garden, preparing for goats, etc. I think I will wait a bit on that.  Besides, it seems that all of the dumbbells I need are missing.  I know we once had 15s, 20s, and 25s, but they've vanished.  I'd like to get some of those again, and some heavier ones and a bench.  Right now we're spending enough on other things, so buying that is not going to happen.  I could use the tubes or bands, though...  I need to think upon a plan for that, too...
