Feed, Fiddle, and Frustrating Friday

I've been dealing with a little head cold for a few days now, and am finally feeling close to normal--normal enough to do the tasks of the day, especially since the kiddos are all well. No sense in missing music lessons on my account, right? Right.

So, we go to the feed mill to get our 250 pounds of grain for the month for the goats. I did not realize that this was 4-H chick pick up day! There was a line a mile long (okay, so that's an exaggeration, but it was long) but the kiddos and I were able to bypass the line because our needs would be met at a different counter. So, we paid for the feed and a coccidia prevention medication and went our merry way. The guys in the warehouse went to get the feed and loaded it in the van while I insured that 3 little people were buckled snuggly and had their cups filled and snacks in hand.

Then, onward to music lessons. I realized about half way there that I miscalculated the drive time between the feed mill and the music instructor's home. This was one of those times when it would have been really handy to have a cell phone, but alas. I began to formulate my apology for our tardiness.

So we arrive and the kiddos have condensed lessons. Samuel gets to start working on the "doubling" part of Perpetual Motion. This is where the song's name is very fitting. Shiphrah, bless her heart, came down with my cold Right In The Middle Of Music Lessons! Poor girl was SO close to earning her Twinkle award, but between all her sneezes and nose blowings, she couldn't keep her songs straight. Maybe next week.

After that, I had a couple things I really needed to do in Hendersonville and while there we did them, even with under-the-weather kiddos. (Solomon started sneezing shortly after we left music lessons!) I was sorely disappointed in Target's maternity section. It's that time of year when I need some short sleeved things, and I've worn out all my other short sleeved maternity tops through the previous three pregnancies. I discovered that it's just not in vogue to be short AND pregnant. See, if your belly has to measure about 40 inches full term, and you're tall, then it can grow up more than out, and all is well. These are the folks they make the clothes for. If you're short, and a 40 inch belly would mean that you are carrying your baby in your eyeballs, unless of course your belly grows very far out, then you are most definitely out of luck. Unless, of course, you want to wear maternity shirts that look more like dresses and are disgustingly tight around the belly button area. (sigh) Really, David's old T shirts fit me better! I think Wal-mart has some maternity tops that would fit, but they're so ugly. I may have to check out Goodwill, and if that doesn't work, that obscenely expensive Motherhood store in the mall. I cringe at the thought of paying $30 for shirts that I'll wear for just a couple of months.

Anyhow, after that very disappointing venture, we stopped in to Music & Arts to buy Samuel another Suzuki Violin Book I CD. He had one, but somehow it disappeared. I had them measure him and he is definitely ready to move up a size in violins, perhaps even 2 sizes! We rent from Nashville Violins (it's farther away, but about $15 cheaper per month!) so will need to plan a trip there in the near future.

We are now home, and I need to get out to the barn and feed everyone. I look forward to hitting the sack tonight. I'm exhausted already!

Oh! I almost forgot! Samuel's SECOND adult tooth has popped through his gums! Much like his first, the corresponding baby tooth is still there and not budging. Time to start playing with it... So much for the "Keep your fingers out of your mouth, Dear, " admonishment!
