This weekend, we more than made up for the hum-drum week we had while the belly bug was going around. Yesterday, of course were the normal barn chores. We also went out to eat at CiCi's Pizza per Samuel's request. I'm beginning to feel as if it is about time to have more of a birthday party for him, but can't work myself into that yet, so we just did lots of little things. After lunch, we all (including my mom) went to do our monthly Sam's shopping. Both David and my mom had a cart and my mom suggested that I drive one of those motorized, sit down shopping carts! I felt a little ridiculous, but it was SO nice! I didn't have to stop and rest with every Braxton-Hicks and ask David to wait up for me! It does seem that I'm having a more difficult time with the whole breathing thing this go round, but I've come up with a reason (hypothetical, of course) that I'm satisfied with. No, it's not because this is baby #4 (even though it is baby #4) and it's not because I'm out of shape (even though I am out of shape.) The explanation I like best is that I've had the biggest break between pregnancies this time and so my stomach muscles went back together better, so instead of growing out out out, I'm growing more up and constricting these lungs! How's that for a rationale? I do have support for this theory... maternity pants that I couldn't wear after the first trimester before, I am still able to fit into, even though I don't weigh any less. Anyhow.... that was a bit tangential, wasn't it?!
So, then we went to Wal-Mart. I stayed in the car with the sleeping little'uns while Daddy & Samuel went in. Samuel got to spend some of his birthday money. He got some Storm Troopers and the movie Charlotte's Web.
So today, we were terribly late for church. I detest being late, but I can't seem to get us out the door on time. This was a far easier task before children and goats and chickens and pregnancy and ... doesn't matter. I need to get out of bed about two hours earlier. Anyhow, we didn't follow our usual post-worship routine (sleep the day away!) We looked at Lowe's and Walmart at those retainer wall blocks. Just this week, I saw them at Walmart for 98 cents a piece. I should have got them then. Now, the cheapest they have is $1.98 at both stores. It was probably just a set up glitch when I saw the cheaper price this week, but since that was what it was marked, I probably could have got them for that... if only I had bought them then! I want to do a raised bed in front of our barn for my kitchen garden. Looks like the retainer wall is going to wait a little longer than I had hoped!
When we got home, David, Samuel, and Solomon went across the street to look at the pond that was dug on our land there. It is full! Then, the kids had a big time playing outdoors in the mud. I told them all (including Daddy) that I was NOT going to deal with a muddy utility room again and that they were all getting hosed off outdoors! I wasn't so mean as that, but if you plan on coming over any time soon, please save me a bit of embarrassment and come to my front door, okay?
I decided to use up a bunch of stuff we had around here and get some cooking done so that I can take it easy and not have to worry with dinner preparations so much in the days to come. A gallon of chili base, three quarters of a gallon of spaghetti sauce, and three pans of lasagna later, I'm done. My feet feel ready to fall off, which probably means that I didn't rest as much as I should have for a Sunday....but I'll be able to rest more later!
Hope y'all had a wonderful weekend!
