A little self discipline is in order!

Shiloh is still cute as a button and I still love smelling her and kissing those fat little cheeks! She had her first sponge bath at home yesterday. Her cord has yet to come off (this is the longest lasting Hallman cord ever!) so we couldn't do a real bath. She seemed to enjoy all but the drying off part regardless! She is drinking a ton (okay maybe a quart) each day and getting some pretty cute little cuddly folds in all the right baby places.

I'm continuing to recover. The 10th month of pregnancy just isn't much fun, but I suppose it serves well to keep me from getting out and letting Shiloh come in contact with too many germs.

One of our goats is sick. She has a low grade fever and isn't eating well. Her rumen activity is next to nothing right now, but it's hard to say which came first. Is she not eating well because she's not feeling well or is she not feeling well because she's not eating well? Today she nibbled a bit on some hay, grain, minerals... She's been to the vet twice this week. When David gets home tonight, we will take her temperature again, give her some banamine (goat tylenol) if it is still elevated, and give her some probios (a probiotic paste). Blood work will get sent off to the lab on Monday. Hopefully she's feeling better by then!

I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the up and coming duties to tend to... We really start homeschooling this year. I will be doing kindergarten with both Samuel and Shiphrah. David purchased workbooks for math and phonics for both of them so I don't have to make so many copies. I really think it will be cheaper in the long run because printer ink and paper add up fast. It should also save me about an hour a day... Phonics does wear me out, though.

I will need to start milking Jill soon if she's going to be giving us milk this year. This will mean separating her babies from her at night and milking her in the mornings. Hopefully I can train myself to get up really early in the mornings before David has to get up and that way if Shiloh needs anything while I'm in the barn, Daddy can take care of it. Julie's milk is off limits for the next 5 weeks due to antibiotics she has been given...

In addition to schooling, goatherding, and the demands of a newborn, I really need to get back into the swing of laundry, ironing, planning, cooking, cleaning, and shopping on a schedule. I've been a slacker since I got pregnant just about, and it's going to take some work to discipline myself again. I need discipline, though. I also have another 35 pounds I want to shed...

We have had some great visits from friends bearing gifts of food this week! That has been a huge treat! I wish I were a little more lively when company comes, but suppose this is the time to cut myself some slack. I look forward to "normal" again!

Well, off to make that schedule!
