Yesterday we had well visits with the doctor for Shiphrah, Solomon, and Shiloh. All did very well. Our kiddos are growing like weeds and do better and better with the doctor each time they go. Shiloh's cord area got treated with silver nitrate. It appears that her body is trying to reconstruct her cord and is still growing tissue and the silver nitrate is supposed to cauterize it and dry it up. It's fairly common, apparently, though this is our first experience with that. Solomon appears to have his daddy's ear wax issues (as does Samuel) so we need to put debrox in an ear. He also has a little scar that he keeps scratching and making it get inflammed. Just to make sure it is really a scar and not a fungal infection of some sort, we are to try clotramizole on it, 3 times a day for 10 days.
Following the doctor visits, we went to Opry Mills where we were to meet Grandma, Aunt Liz, and the Thackers, who were bringing Samuel back from a sleepover at their house. We sure missed Samuel, but he had a great time! He also lost his second tooth! We had dinner at the Aquarium restaurant and the kiddos thought that was great fun! The food was really good, too. Then, we went to Strasburg, because they were having a sale (buy one, get one 60% off) and bought Shiphrah a birthday dress and Shiloh a baptism dress. Shiphrah has been wanting a white dress for ages now, and she finally got one. I wish she would have liked something on the clearance rack a little more, but cest la vie! It is her birthday. She's certain to pretend it is her wedding dress... Daddy picked out sweater vests for Samuel and Solomon off the clearance rack. We bought them a couple polo shirts for under them at the uniform shop, and I look forward to seeing the boys in those! After Strasburg, we went to Stride Rite. Grandma wanted to buy Shiphrah and Solomon shoes for their birthdays. Shiphrah got a pair of white sandals and Solomon got brown sandals and some nice brown shoes for the winter. I would have liked different shoes for Shiphrah, but the selection wasn't great. These are fine and comfortable, though. Now, I need to pick up some socks and hairbows for Shiphrah... Samuel would have liked shoes as well, but he has summer shoes and we'll pick up some winter ones for him another time.
My mom and cousin Liz drove separately (they didn't need to go to the doctor, and there's only so much room in the van) so they went to Michael's on the way home, while we headed straight home to put the kiddos to bed. Liz bought some craft things, and she's been keeping Samuel, Shiphrah, and Solomon most entertained today! They've been drawing, painting, glueing, and generally having a big time outside! Now everyone is running through the sprinklers. :)
Daddy is out of the house for today (principal's meeting and then a session meeting). We're just plugging along here. Liz has outdone herself entertaining kiddos. My mom has taken over my kitchen (surprise). I've put away our purchases, fed and changed Shiloh a few times, done the morning barn chores, started laundry, and generally putzed around doing little things. I need to head to Scottsville within the next couple days to buy chicken feed from the Mennonites, and a dose of Frontline and heartworm pill from the vet for Cinderella. Each day I seem to feel a little more normal, which is nice. If only all my normal clothes fit...!
