It's been a week already?!

It seems a lot has gone on in the past week, yet I can't remember much! David has done quite a bit of work outside, bush hogging, trimming trees, moving rocks, cleaning the barn, etc. I've cleaned a bit in the barn as well. It's good exercise, and I've discovered the hard way that it's really too early to begin walking. My bones are still moving in ways that they shouldn't. Connective tissues could really tighten up any time, thank you very much!

Today we bought some more feed, went to music lessons, and to the consignment store. I have been cleaning out old clothes and pulling out those that the kids can wear this season and have been able to weed out those that aren't worn for consignment and earn quite a bit of store credit to fill in the kiddos' wardrobe gaps. It's always nice to be able to do that without spending money!

At music lessons, Samuel did very well with Perpetual Motion. It seems he has been on that song for a very long time, and he has. It has the normal song, then doubles, and then has a variation of moving over a string. It was very daunting for him at first, but I can see the wheels turning in his head as he makes sense of it and is doing very well. His biggest glitch at this point is adjusting to his new violin--it's larger, so he has to stretch his fingers more to play the correct notes. Today, he got to begin learning a new song, Allegretto. This means that I have a new song to learn, too! Shiphrah is plugging along with her piano. She struggles to focus but is making progress. I remember this being a struggle for Samuel, so think it is just part of the learning process. Samuel seems to have grown a great deal from it, and I expect that Shiphrah will as well. She was also given a new song to begin learning this week: Cukoo. I can just imagine how filled with music our house will be when all four children are studying an instrument!

This morning, Samuel got up at 5 am with me to go help milk Jill. She has to get back into the hang of things on the milkstand. She isn't crazy about being milked and wants to stomp and kick, which makes for a really messy milkstand and undrinkable milk! Samuel holds her back legs while I milk. We didn't get much today, but hopefully we'll be able to increase her production both by milking her, and eventually weaning her babies. (or in the case of the bucks, eating them! Shhh... don't tell the kids!--the two legged ones!)

Shiloh is napping now, and since I've been up since before 4 am, I think I may just go and take a nap myself!
