We're working on fencing about an acre and a quarter for a new larger doe pen. This is so that I don't have to let them roam freely over the property but can keep them in a pen. This will allow me to plant shrubs around the house, keep phone lines in tact, and keep the goats safe, too. This is a portion of a trail through the woods where we will install fencing. Trees will be the major fence posts with metal T posts in between as needed. The branches on the ground in front of Samuel and Samson are part of what cracked the fuel filter cover on David's tractor and delayed the project about a week while we were waiting for the part to come in.
Here's Samuel sitting on a gnarled old Osage Orange tree in the woods. This tree goes by many names: Bodock (Bois d'arc), Horse Apple, Hedge Apple, Iron Wood.... The wood is orange inside and it will kill a chainsaw blade (or a fuel filter canister), quick.

Coming out of the woods and heading to the driveway. We put up another 225 feet of fencing yesterday. It's not attached to the metal posts yet, but is attached to the wood ones.

Our bridge was beginning to cave in at the corners. Ricky Troutt brought his backhoe and a dumptruck full of fill and arranged these rocks to hold the fill and save our bridge! Our farm wouldn't be the place it is without all the work he has done for us. From bulldozing, to water lines, to septic system, and more, he has been a great blessing to us!
Mr. Troutt also put in some large cedar posts at the base of our driveway that will one day hold a solar powered gate.

A view of the fence dividing the back yard from the doe pen. I'll have to move that hammock out of there.
