Two Months Old and More Events

It has only been a week, but it seems like forever since I last wrote. Shiloh is 2 months old today! She is begining to smile ever so slightly. She is very much a mama's girl right now. I wear her a lot! I took this photo of her yesterday:
We just finished our first day of kindergarten with Samuel and Shiphrah. They are very excited to be doing school again! For the rest of July, we will just be doing Bible and Phonics. Our phonics includes reading and writing and throws in a good bit of art as well. In August, we will begin math. I have developed a history program through the year by way of field trips. We will be doing Sumner County history, so once a month, we will visit a local historical museum or home. There are several special activities held at these places throughout the year, so we will coincide our visits with those. Once a week, we will seek out one of the Historical Markers in the county (there happen to be about 36 or so) and take pictures, journal, color, etc. and make a book that should wind up being a pretty spiffy project by the end of the school year! (If you'd like to see the particulars, I outlined it all in a note on Facebook.) In addition to all that, I want to order a couple of science books that are appropriate for Kindergarten. We do a lot of by-the-way science as it is. Then of course, there are the music lessons. I think that should round out our Kindergarten curriculum quite nicely.

Our does have dropped some in milk production. I don't know if it's the heat, or if they've just figured out how to hold back more for their babies? I had hoped to have enough milk to share about 3 or 4 gallons a week, but it seems we'll just be making enough for us. I look forward to having more goats in milk so we can do more for others.

I did get a website up this week. http://stoneyheightsfarm.webs.com/ is the link. There is work to be done on it yet, but overall I'm pleased.

This week, David and I went to see Food Inc. at the Belcourt. I'm motivated to garden, incubate more chickens, and generally try to produce more of our own food, as well as as much healthy food for others as our land and our lives can handle.

While David, Shiloh, and I went to the movie, Aunt LeeAnne and Cousin Faith took the other 3 Ss to Build-a-Bear. It was Shiphrah & Solomon's birthday present. Samuel wanted to go, too, and they were kind enough to take him. I never thought I would see a teddy bear dressed as Iron Man. What will they think of next?!

Shiloh's baptism is scheduled for this coming Sunday, July 19th. We sent out invitations via e-mail. Let me know if we missed you! The service begins at 10 am. Location is St. Mark Reformed Church, 501 Brewer Drive, Nashville, TN.

The ladies at church had a Book Shower for Shiloh and I this week. I always enjoy getting together with them, and they really outdid themselves with the beautiful food and flowers and we got some great books! I always feel a bit uncomfortable being the center of attention receiving gifts so was very pleased to have Shiloh to feed while some of the girls opened the presents. :) I look forward to reading all of them and I have a few Thank You notes to write. :)

I think I've hit the highlights...! Need to take Cinderella to be shaved and go pick up some more chicken and goat feed for the month... Hope you are off to a good week!
