Yesterday

I haven't been too good with the photos lately, but there's a few for now! Yesterday after church, we bought Samuel some shoes. He was still wearing his sandals with socks for church, and it's been pretty chilly out lately! We got him dress shoes to match Solomon's, and some "every day" shoes since last year's were getting a bit tight. Shoes are always such a big ordeal... wide feet and expensive prices mean we go to the Stride Rite outlet at Opry Mills. The looks we get walking through the mall as a family are very entertaining! Some people think we're cute or precious, and those looks are always fun. Some people quite clearly think we're disgusting, and it's sad, but I can't help but laugh when we get those looks! Yesterday, in church attire, we were clearly more disgusting than normal to some folks. Oh well. I also get a kick out of our kids who don't frequent the mall--their reactions to things we don't think much about are priceless! Ugly modern art statues are awe-inspiring just because of their size... and the thought of climbing them makes a little boy's heart skip with glee! Water fountains filled with money are a trip, too! I know I read a story somewhere about kids that spent the night somewhere and bathed in a fountain and used the money for food or something the next day... I'll have to find that story for them. Was it The Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler? High ceilings, sky lights, hanging banners, 3 dimensional signs, a kiddie train, carousel... they love it! Now if only I could remove lengerie stores and Spencer's Gifts (especially Spencer's Gifts) from the mall... ick. Thankfully, they recognize that something isn't right about them and ask questions about that. Discernment is a lovely thing. We also peeked in to Strasburg while we were there. Shiphrah fell in love with a dainty pink dress, loaded with smocking and sweetness. Of course, it was really pricey, too! We saw a couple of cute dresses on the clearance rack... Matching Shiphrah and Shiloh is going to be loads of fun!

Not too much else is going on. Everyone is recovering from their colds. We're just plugging along milking goats, washing clothes, and doing school.

We get weird looks all of the time too! Mostly it's..."how are all of those kids their's?" type of look. My kids have the same reaction when shopping. I remember my boys exclaiming over all of the different colored hangers when they were little! Of all the things to notice :)

This one lady clearly thought we needed to learn a bit about birth control! I have to laugh... I'm not sure how people aren't embarrassed to be so rude. Anyhow, last night, we had a man out to give us an estimate on a new heating and air unit. He has 4 daughters too, but still asked if we were Catholic. I've never heard David say this before, but he's apparently decided the quick answer is, "No, just careless Protestants!" Oh man... funny, but carelessness isn't the motivation! :)
