Samuel has his hand up guarding his candles, because the first time we set the cake in front of him with lit candles and sang to him, Shiloh, who was sitting next to him and knows that candles are for blowing out, stole all the fun and blew Samuel's candles out herself! :) Funny girl! So we re-lit the candles (notice how short they are!) and sang again!
We had a small impromptu celebration, pretty typical for us. We had discussed doing a karate birthday party, but I think that Samuel prefers to not have that much attention drawn to himself. We had his favorite food for dinner (hamburgers) and a vanilla ice cream cake, and presents. I can't believe my boy is NINE already! Where has the time gone?
