Why yes, this is 3 posts within a 24 hour period. I just have to share!
My mom is such a wonderful, giving person. My frustration with her is that she simply doesn't take good enough care of herself and she won't let anyone take care of her either. However, that doesn't stop her from spending scads of time taking care of everyone else and I have to tell you what she did for me yesterday.
First, she came over and started cooking. This is not out of the ordinary as she's always cooking for us. In fact, as much as I am all for natural food, my family would probably eat a lot of frozen junk for the sake of time, because I am strapped pretty thin as far as time goes--that is if it weren't for my mom. She loves with food.
But after that, she said, "Where is the fabric you used to reupholster your dining room chairs?" I only did 3 of them because they were a real pain in the rear and just didn't have the energy to do the other 3, knowing full well that my children would likely use them as napkins and ruin all my hard work anyhow. My mom decided that she was sick of looking at their chairs and that they could learn to use a napkin! She reupholstered my other 3 dining room chairs for me! All in time for house guests. What a wonderful gesture of love! My mom is simply amazing! :)
It is also fun to watch my mom with my children. Since I was an only child, she was really uncomfortable with my kiddos when I first started having them. She didn't remember how to change a diaper. She didn't know what to do when one of them got upset with another one of them. She didn't know how to make a bottle. They were so loud! It was all so stressful! She has really grown in her grandmotherly skills over the years, though, and it is a delight to watch her with them. They get excited when she comes over, which is just about every day and sometimes several times a day on weekends. She cuddles and reads and changes diapers (and does a good job now, too, though she must announce when she's done such a sacrificial act and I thank her, all the while amused. :) A few times now, she's taken a nap with Shiloh in the living room recliner. One of these days, I have to get a picture, as much as she'll hate it, because Shiloh will love it when she's older. :)
Not everyone is as blessed to have such a giving mom as I have. I am learning to appreciate her more day by day. Thank you, Lord, for the mom you gave me!
