I keep getting requests for this recipe, so I'm sharing! My mom got this recipe from my Aunt Sue a couple years back, and they've quickly become a family favorite.
Buns:
In a quart bowl:
3 cups water boiling
1 cup brown sugar
1 and 1/2 cups rolled oats
mix the above and let set until lukewarm
In a large bowl add:1/3 cup of yeast or 3 pkgs. yeast and 1/2 cup water
let set for 5 to 10 minutes, then mix with a wire whisk
add brown sugar and oat mixture along with 3 eggs to yeast mixture
mix thoroughly. add 9 to 10-1/2 cups bread flour as follows,
start by adding two cups flour then mix,
2 cups then mix,
1 cup then mix, continue adding 1 cup and mixing
until you can see you dough is getting close to the
correct consistency or about seven cups total. Then
add 1/2 cup at a time. Knead as needed. Finish
by adding about 1/4 cup or less as needed.
Keep kneading. It is important not to add a
lot of flour at one time or it will not incorporate well.
grease (oil) bowl and dough where the dough will rise,
place dough in bowl, then cover with towel or saran wrap
and let rise for about 1/2 hour. Keep hands oiled, while
forming buns about 1-1/2 inches in diameter. Place
next to each other on greased pan and let rise.
Oven should be at 350 degrees to bake for 22 to 30 min.
Keep checking for the desired consistency, because
it is too much work to under or over cook your buns.

These look absolutely delicious! I like yeast rolls. I've tried several recipes through the years in search of the right one, I think I finally found it and cooked them on Thanksgiving last year. I will try this one too. Thanks.
