Some friends had a truck (and a few other vehicles) that they wanted to get rid of. The truck seats 6 (convenient, huh?) and has high miles and a few issues (A/C, power steering, cracked windshield, front door doesn't close right, and some other cosmetic stuff) so was offered to us cheap. It's a perfect farm truck! So far, I've been able to go get the sawmill lumber boxing to side our chicken coop, hay, and today I will go get metal for fascia boards for the remainder of our barn and the new coop. After the metal is covering the fascia, we'll be able to put the roofing on. What a blessing it is to have a vehicle that holds all the kiddos that can do this sort of work! So far, we've had the windshield fixed, and we think the kids at the local high school can do the work on the power steering as an auto mechanics class project for the cost of parts. Wouldn't that be nice?! (In the mean time, I am getting stronger arms. :)
Our chicken coop has really taken shape with siding up!
The work on our bridge should begin shortly... when the water in the creek recedes a bit. A couple telephone poles and a crossbeam from which to hang a farm sign will go in at the same time, and I'm pretty excited about that! A friend who is a graphic artist is working on a logo for us, and I can't wait to show it off! Just the preliminary sketches for us to choose from were phenomenal!
Other than that, we're just truckin' along! School, chores, music, etc. Shiphrah will start ballet lessons next week. Solomon has started violin lessons and is thoroughly pleased with himself. :) The kiddos are sick today (beginning of the school year crud) but otherwise doing well. I have been on a mission to get thin again and am now down about 24 pounds. :) Anywhere from 11 to maybe 26 more to go, wherever this new diet change takes me! Hopefully I get there in time for us to get some good family photos before Christmas this year. :) Happy Thursday!
