Last post of 2009

What a busy few weeks it has been, and not entirely because of Christmas! It turned out that the Bosch hot water heater could not be vented properly in the small space we had to install it... at least not unless we wanted to pay $900 for installation! Uhhh... right. So, we had our propane company install a Noritz, and are selling the Bosch unit we were sent from the factory. We love the Noritz! It has worked faithfully, never opnce needing to be reset! Amazing! It has a pipe in pipe intake and exhaust vent so only one hole in the house! This means we have to redo a section of our roof...

Shiloh had a very fussy teething episode that didn't result in any teeth actually coming through the gums; just moving around in there. We discovered that Hyland's Homeopathic teething tablets are wonderful! They work almost instantly to take away pain, reduce fever, put her back to sleep... but wear off after an hour! I was one tired mama for about a week.

Like everyone else, the Christmas season has been keeping us busy. We enjoyed a Jamie Soles (and family) concert at our church. If you've never heard of him, you are missing out! Great fun music for kids, that adults can't help but enjoy as well. Check him out here: www.solmusic.ca

Additionally, our Christmas Eve Lessons & Carols service was delightful, followed by a fun evening of visiting, eating, and unwrapping presents with the Apples. Christmas day, after all the morning fun, I cleaned while David cooked, and we had "Uncle" William and the Zs and of course my mom over for Christmas dinner. I can't say much for my cleaning... I had loads of discoveries in the kids' rooms... but David and my mom made a wonderful meal!

We've been celebrating the twelve days of Christmas, so each morning there is something new to unwrap and discover. Sure keeps the kiddos entertained! We were also able to enjoy the company of the Hays family recently. We really enjoy them, and the kiddos have so much fun together. :)

David has been tackling my new honey-do list: barn projects! The doe pen is now smaller (they get let out most of the time), the buck pen is larger, and there is a chicken coop to be built. Additionally, we bought fencing to do one side of our property and fence out a garden.

Yesterday, we all went to see Mr. Morrison for David's and Samuel's haircuts. We figured Solomon could wait until next time, as much of a fuss as he makes over it. Well, after Samuel got out of the chair, Solomon hopped up there like a big boy! He got his hair cut and didn't fuss a bit, though his neck was mighty ticklish!

Today, I took Myrtle to the vet to have an ultrasound. I bred her to Mozart on November 6th, but on the 26th, she had a little bloody show. She never came back into heat, though, and I wanted to find out what is going on. She has at least two healthy babies in there! So maybe there were 3, but nothing looks amiss now. I'm super thrilled!

We are enjoying our family time together, look forward to getting caught up on some things around the house, and watching the kiddos enjoy the rest of the holidays! I didn't get Christmas cards out this year, but hope 2009 has treated y'all well, that you enjoy the remainder of this Christmas season, and that 2010 brings you much joy in the Lord!
